Mike grew up in Northern Virginia, right outside of D.C. He graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia where he majored in geography with a concentration in global food production. After graduation, he moved back to the D.C. area where he has worked in construction management, commercial real estate, and banking.
Jess grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she majored in nursing. She worked as an emergency room nurse in Kinston, North Carolina for a year and then for two more years at Georgetown University Hospital in D.C. Most recently, she worked in the surgery center at Georgetown for a year.
We met in October of 2008 while involved in our church community in Northern Virginia. After seeing each other at social events for about six months, we started dating the following March. We were married on July 10, 2010 and have loved our first year as a married couple! Before meeting, we both had hearts for overseas missions and have continued to pursue that calling throughout our relationship. We are excited to serve the children of Uganda and feel blessed to have this opportunity to share in the work the Lord is doing around the world!
